Meropenem trihydrate is a carbapenem antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It is intrinsically stable to dehydropeptidase-1 (DHP-1) degradation and acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to and inactivating penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs).
