Norvancomycin hydrochloride is a cell wall synthesis inhibitor that targets peptidoglycan precursors of Gram-positive bacteria and does not cross the blood-brain barrier. It competitively binds to peptidoglycan precursors, irreversibly inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis and exhibiting antibacterial activity. It is primarily used in the study of Gram-positive bacterial infections, particularly those caused by methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA) and methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus epidermidis* (MRSE).
