This compound inhibits pre-mRNA splicing by stopping spliceosome assembly when U2AF recruits U2 snRNP to the branchpoint, and also enhances pre-mRNA binding to U2AF2, leading to selective cell death in leukemia cell lines with spliceosome mutations.
