ODN 2216 is a human-specific Toll-like Receptor 9 (TLR9) ligand or agonist. It is known to induce high amounts of IFN-α and IFN-β, and IFN-α by plasmacytoid DC (pDC) and IL-12 (p40) production by dendritic cells (DC). It also stimulates IFN-γ production in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC), which is an indirect effect mediated by IFN-α/β. ODN 2216 can activate NK cells and promote IFN-γ production of TCR-triggered CD4+ T cells and is intended for research use only.
