Paxilline is an indole alkaloid isolated from Penicillium paxilli. It is a selective and reversible blocker of the smooth muscle high conductance Ca2+-activated K+ (maxi-K) channel (70% block at 10 nM). In neutrophils, Paxilline blockage of BKCa channels decreased the alkalinization of phagocytic vacuoles and inhibited the microbicidal process. Inhibitor of the cerebellar inositol 1,4,5-triphosphate (InsP(3)) receptor. Purity: ≥97% (HPLC). Solubility: Soluble in DMSO (50mg/ml). Long Term Storage: -20°C.
