The phCMV1 vector is designed to achieve high level constitutive protein expression using an optimized human cytomegalovirus (CMV) promoter. The CMV promoter includes the CMV intron A from the immediate-early (IE) gene, plus an artificial and functional terminator. Other features of the plasmid are 1) high plasmid yield in E. coli; 2) T7 Primer site for sequencing; and 3) a Kan/Neo gene for selection in both bacteria and cultured cell lines.
