Poly-L-lysine hydrochloride is a nonspecific attachment factor for cells. It is useful in promoting cell adhesion to solid substrates by enhancing the electrostatic interaction between negatively charged ions of the cell membrane and the culture surface. It also acts as a strong-attraction regulator, promoting liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) at low concentrations and suppressing LLPS at high concentrations. This compound is an antibacterial cationic peptide.
