Precursor of adrenomedullin containing proadrenomedullin NH2-terminal 20 peptide (PAMP), a unique 20-residue sequence. When administered, PAMP produces a strong and rapid hypotensive effect in anesthetized rats. PAMP has also been suggested to function as an inhibitory modulator of renal noradrenergic neurotransmission, thereby playing an important role in the regulation of renal functions.
