(Rac)-sn-Glycerol 3-phosphate sodium is an α-site substrate analogue that strongly inhibits the reaction rate of indole and nucleophilic indole analogues with E(A-A) when bound to the α-site. It is a phosphorylated derivative of glycerol produced as an intermediate in the glycolysis pathway. It also binds to the α subunit of tryptophan synthase, regulating tryptophan synthesis through allosteric inhibition.
