Rhodococcus equi strain NCTC 1621 [ATCC 25729, NRRL B-16538] is a bacterial type strain that was isolated from the lung abscess of a foal. This culture is avirulent (lacks virulence-associated proteins and plasmid) and it can be used as a control strain in a CAMP test to confirm Listeria species.
