RI-1 is a potent RAD51 inhibitor that acts by covalently binding to cysteine 319 on the RAD51 protein, thereby inactivating it and disrupting homologous recombination in human cells. This action allows RI-1 to sensitize cancer cells to cross-linking chemotherapy and has been shown to reduce triple-negative breast cancer tumor growth in vivo.
- Inhibits RAD51 by covalently binding to cysteine 319.
- Disrupts homologous recombination in human cells.
- Sensitizes human cancer cells to cross-linking chemotherapy.
- Reduces triple-negative breast cancer tumor growth in mice.
- Specifically inhibits homologous recombination (HR) in U2OS cells and stimulates single-strand annealing (SSA) in HEK293 cells.
