Tigecycline (GAR-936) is a broad-spectrum glycylcycline antibiotic. It demonstrates activity against various bacteria, including E. coli with a mean inhibitory concentration (MIC) of approximately 125 ng/mL, and Acinetobacter baumannii with MIC50 and MIC90 values of 1 and 2 mg/L, respectively. In vitro studies show Tigecycline inhibits AML2 and HL-60 human leukemia cells. In vivo, it has been shown to reduce tumor volume and weight in NOD/SCID mice models of acute myeloid leukemia. Pharmacokinetic studies in mice indicate a Cmax of 22.8 μg/mL and a terminal half-life of 108.9 min in saline.
