TKPTS is a normal cell line with epithelial-like morphology that was isolated in 1997 from the proximal tubule of the kidney of a mouse. They have been used mainly to study the transport of MDR substrates, signaling pathways involved in kidney PT cell toxicity due to drug exposure or oxidative stress, and cell damage pathways involved in acute and chronic kidney failure.
