Transmissible gastroenteritis virus strain Purdue (attenuated) is propagated in ST cells (ATCC CRL-1746). This strain was originally isolated from the small intestine of an infected pig with mild diarrhea and was deposited under the catalog number ATCC VR-763. It was then passaged through a 0.2 μM cellulose acetate membrane syringe filter and re-assigned to the catalog number ATCC VR-1995. This viral strain can be used in viral neutralization tests, agricultural research, and infectious and enteric disease research.
