Triiodothyronine sulfate is the main metabolite of the thyroid hormone triiodothyronine (T3). T3 is an active form of thyroid hormone that binds to the β1 thyroid hormone receptor (TRβ1) and activates its activity. In vitro, Triiodothyronine (T3, 100 nM) stimulates the proliferation of hepatocarcinoma cells when TRβ1 is overexpressed. It promotes growth, induces differentiation, and regulates metabolic effects.
