Sigma Aldrich Fine Chemicals Biosciences Hexane HPLC Plus for HPLC1L
Hexane (n-hexane) is an alkane that can be obtained from petroleum by distillation. It can also be produced by electrolyzing the potassium butyrate SOLUTIONon. It is widely employed organic solvent for the disSOLUTIONon and isolation of fats and oils. Its thermodynamic properties and kinetics of thermal decomposition have been studied over a range of temperature. A study on the zeolite supported platinum catalyzed isomerization and aromatization of n-hexane has been reported. Its removal from hexane contaminated air streams using vapor phase biological reactor (VPBR) immobilized with hexane-degrading Aspergillus niger strain has been studied. The metabolism of n-hexane forms 2 5-hexanedione (2 5-HD) which is reported to induce neurotoxicity.

Sigma Aldrich Fine Chemicals Biosciences Hexane mixture of isomers
The product is a mixture of hexane isomers and methylcyclopentane. Hexane (mixture of isomers) can be isolated from petroleum by distillation or by cracking. They form major constituents of petroleum ether. It is a non-renewable organic solvent mainly used for the disSOLUTIONon and extraction of oils and fats. Separation of the isomeric forms of hexane on the basis of degree of branching using fe2(BDP)3 (BDP2- 1 4-benzenedipyrazolate) has been reported.
