MPEP Hydrochloride is a potent, selective, noncompetitive, orally active, and systemically active mGlu5 receptor antagonist with an IC50 of 36 nM for completely inhibiting quisqualate-stimulated phosphoinositide (PI) hydrolysis. It also exhibits anxiolytic- or antidepressant-like effects. Additionally, MPEP Hydrochloride serves as a click chemistry reagent, containing an Alkyne group that can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules possessing Azide groups.
- Potent, selective, noncompetitive mGlu5 receptor antagonist.
- Orally active and systemically active.
- Exhibits anxiolytic- or antidepressant-like effects.
- Functions as a click chemistry reagent due to its Alkyne group, enabling CuAAc reactions with Azide-containing molecules.
