Oenothein B is a dimeric macrocyclic ellagitannin with broad pharmacological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, anti-HCV, and antitumor properties. It is also a potent and specific inhibitor of poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase.
- Dimeric macrocyclic ellagitannin
- Possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, anti-HCV, and antitumor properties
- Potent and specific inhibitor of poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase
- Inhibits proliferation of A549 cells by inducing apoptosis and arresting cells at G1 stage
- Increases intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and upregulates intracellular apoptotic triggers
- Suppresses lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced neuroinflammation in mouse brain
