(-)-Epigallocatechin-3-O-(4-O-methyl)gallate is an orally active catechin derivative found in Taiwanese oolong tea. It can inhibit histamine release and exhibits anti-inflammation and anti-allergic effect. It can be used for researches of immunology and inflammation, such as type I allergic.
- Inhibits histamine release from IgE/antigen-activated mouse mast cells (45% inhibition rate at 50 μg/mL).
- Exhibits excellent plasma stability (only 10% degradation rate at 500 μg/mL for 15 mins).
- Significantly inhibits type I allergic reactions in mice sensitized with ovalbumin (5-50 mg/kg, i.g.).
- Achieved approximately 50% inhibition rate of abdominal wall blue dye permeation at 10 mg/kg in animal models.
