BirA protein (E. coli, His-MBP) is a recombinant Escherichia coli biotin ligase supplied as a purified fusion protein with N-terminal His and MBP tags. It catalyzes site-specific biotinylation of Avi-tagged substrates in the presence of ATP and is intended for in vitro protein labeling, immobilization, and affinity capture workflows. The preparation is quality-controlled by SDS-PAGE and enzyme activity assay.
- Recombinant biotin ligase expressed in E. coli
- N-terminal His and MBP tags for purification and solubility
- High purity (>95%) as determined by reducing SDS-PAGE
- Specific activity greater than 100 pmol/min/μg by pyrophosphate assay
- Suitable for site-specific biotinylation of Avi-tagged proteins
- Stable when aliquoted and stored at -20 °C or -80 °C
