Dendrogenin A is a ligand for liver X receptor (LXR) that induces the expression of sodium/iodine symporter, increasing iodine uptake. It also induces cell differentiation of MCF-7 cells, reactivates the function of lactating cells, and influences thyroid hormone generation by inducing expressions of TSH receptor, thyroid peroxidase, and thyroglobulin. Dendrogenin A exhibits cytotoxicity in cancer cells B-CPAP and 8505c, and arrests the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase.
