Acetohydroxamic acid is an inhibitor for bacterial and plant urease used for chronic urinary tract infections. It selectively inhibits arachidonic acid 5-lipoxygenase, useful in asthma research. This compound also inhibits advanced glycation end products, reduces oxidative stress and inflammatory responses, and exhibits antiviral activity against HIV.
