The 16T439 is a 3M Scotch-Brite General Purpose Hand Pad, 6" x 9", Maroon from Grainger. It features an open, nonwoven nylon web construction that cuts through tough baked-on carbon, grease and oil. The maroon nylon web with mineral abrasive effectively cleans pots, pans, grills, ovens, floors, walls, parts and more without scratching. It can tackle tough cleaning jobs on all types of surfaces. This versatile scouring pad measures 6" x 9" and has a 1/4" thickness. It is ideal for scrubbing, scouring, cleaning and surface preparation applications. The maroon color-coding indicates a medium duty abrasiveness.

Through the use of this special lid (incl. seal ring) on a hardmetal tungsten carbide grinding bowl with 80 ml volume, the grinding bowl can be used for grinding with inert gas and for mechanical alloying.
Two valves allow for easy and safe filling of the bowls with inert gas, while they are firmly clamped in the mill. A special additional Lock-System is required for gas-tight removal and transportation: order no. 90.1400.00.

Device for grinding in liquid nitrogen
The grinding set is placed in a cryo-box to grind soft, oily, fatty or moist materials by adding liquid nitrogen to embrittle the grinding material. This method is used to reduce samples which are very difficult to grind (e. g. slivers of soft PVC) to analytical fineness. The thick insulation of the cryo-box keeps coolant costs low.
For cryogenic grinding, a mortar and a grinding ball made of stainless steel, hardened steel or hard metal tungsten carbide should be used.
