Biotium Human IgM (Immunoglobulin Mu Heavy Chain) (B-Cell Marker)(rIGHM/3802), CF568 conjugate, 0.1mg/mL
Recognizes a protein of 75 kDa, identified as mu heavy chain of human immunoglobulins. It does not cross-react with alpha (IgA), gamma (IgG), epsilon (IgE), or delta (IgD), heavy chains, T-cells, monocytes, granulocytes, or erythrocytes. Monomeric IgM is expressed as a membrane bound antibody on the surface of B cells and as a pentamer when secreted by plasma cells. IgM antibody is prominent in early immune responses to most antigens. Aberrant levels are associated with immune deficiency states, hereditary deficiencies, myeloma, Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, chronic infection and hepatocellular disease. This MAb is useful in the identification of leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. The most common feature of these malignancies is the restricted expression of a single heavy chain class. Demonstration of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates that the infiltrate is clonal and therefore malignant. Primary antibodies are available purified, or w

The FLAG-tag (DYKDDDDK) is a short polypeptide added to proteins via recombinant DNA technology. It is widely used for protein purification by affinity chromatography and for studying proteins in living cells. The tag helps distinguish recombinant proteins from native ones and enables isolation of multi-subunit complexes due to its gentle purification process. It also allows production of proteins pure enough for structural studies like x-ray crystallography. The FLAG-tag can be detected using specific antibodies, making it useful in assays such as immunofluorescence, SDS-PAGE, and Western blotting, especially when no antibody exists for the target protein.

Integrins are transmembrane receptors that mediate cell adhesion, cytoskeletal rearrangement, and signaling. This gene encodes the alpha 8 subunit of the integrin alpha8beta1, a single-pass membrane protein with multiple FG-GAP repeats that form a beta propeller structure. The alpha8beta1 integrin regulates mesenchymal cell recruitment into epithelial structures, cell-cell interactions, and neurite outgrowth in sensory and motor neurons. It plays a key role in wound healing and organogenesis. Mutations in this gene are linked to renal hypodysplasia/aplasia-1 (RHDA1) and chronic kidney disease models in animals. Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms of this gene.

This gene encodes one of three AKT serine-threonine protein kinases (AKT1, AKT2, AKT3), which share a pleckstrin homology domain, a kinase domain, and a regulatory C-terminal domain. AKT proteins are phosphorylated by phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) and play a crucial role in cell signaling pathways activated by membrane-bound ligands. They regulate cellular functions like proliferation, survival, metabolism, and angiogenesis in both normal and cancerous cells. AKT proteins are recruited to the cell membrane by PIP3, and their activation requires phosphorylation at specific residues. The PI3K/AKT pathway is vital for tumor cell survival and is involved in the mTOR pathway, which regulates protein synthesis. Mutations in this gene are linked to various cancers, including breast, colorectal, and ovarian cancers, as well as disorders like Proteus and Cowden syndromes. Several spliced transcript variants exist for this gene.

Heterogeneous nuclear RNAs (hnRNAs) which include mRNA precursors and mature mRNAs are associated with specific proteins to form heterogenous ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) complexes. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L is among the proteins that are stably associated with hnRNP complexes and along with other hnRNP proteins is likely to play a major role in the formation, packaging, processing, and function of mRNA. Heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein L is present in the nucleoplasm as part of the HNRP complex. HNRP proteins have also been identified outside of the nucleoplasm. Exchange of hnRNP for mRNA-binding proteins accompanies transport of mRNA from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. Since HNRP proteins have been shown to shuttle between the nucleus and the cytoplasm, it is possible that they also have cytoplasmic functions. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
