HepAD38 is a human, liver-derived HepG2 derivative engineered for tetracycline-regulated (inducible) expression of the hepatitis B virus genome. It is used for antiviral compound screening and for production of encapsidated HBV DNA when expression is induced.

- Suitable for antiviral screening and HBV DNA production.
- Adherent, epithelial-like cells derived from human liver.
- Maintain in DMEM/F12 with 10% fetal bovine serum; include tetracycline to repress expression.
- Typical vial contains approximately 4.5 x 10^6 cells; store in vapor-phase liquid nitrogen.
- Biosafety level 2 handling is recommended.
- Culture at 37°C in 95% air, 5% CO2.

These siRNAs can be used either as a non-targeting siRNA in human, mouse or rat cell lines or as a positive silencing control in systems using firefly luciferase as a reporter gene (pGL3 cloning vector, Promega). Targeting Controls were designed to have a minimum of 4 mismatches to all human, mouse and rat genes, and confirmed to have minimal targeting by genomewide microarray analysis. Changes in mRNA or protein levels in cells treated with these controls reflect a baseline cellular response that can be compared to the levels in cells treated with target-specific siRNA.
