Alkali Scientific m Endo LES Agar 20mL Monoplate, 10/Pk
m Endo LES Agar, 20mL Monoplate, 10/Pk is a selective and differential culture medium designed for the detection and enumeration of coliform bacteria, particularly Escherichia coli, in water samples using the membrane filtration method. The formulation contains lactose, sodium lauryl sulfate, and sodium deoxycholate, which inhibit Gram positive organisms while allowing Gram negative coliforms to grow and produce characteristic red colonies with a metallic sheen. Each plate is pre poured with 20mL of sterile medium in a standard 100 x 15mm monoplate format, ensuring even membrane placement and consistent incubation conditions. This medium is widely used for drinking water testing, wastewater analysis, and environmental monitoring, and aligns with EPA, APHA, and Standard Methods protocols for microbiological water quality analysis.

Chameleon™ mEI Agar is a selective and differential, chromogenic medium used for the identification of Enterococcus. Levin, et al. developed a two-step membrane filter method to measure enterococci in fresh and marine recreational waters. Using mE Agar, the method required a 48-hour incubation and a transfer of the membrane to another substrate medium, Esculin Iron Agar, to differentiate enterococci. In 1997, the EPA improved the mE Agar formula by reducing the amount of triphenyltetrazolium chloride contained in the medium and also added the chromogen indoxyl-B-D-glucoside.
