(This product is equivalent to Mycocel Agar.) Cycloheximide inhibits saprophytic fungi. Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Norcardia species. LB Agar, Lennox L, also referred to as Luria-Bertani Agar, is a widely used medium in molecular biology applications for maintaining and cultivating recombinant strains of E. coli. LB Agar, Lennox contains half the amount of sodium chloride as that of the Miller formulation which allows for the researcher to be selective of the salt content when working with a specific strain. MOLTOX offers a wide variety of LB Agar, Lennox plates with the addition of several different types and concentrations of antibiotics to provide a more selective medium for recombinant cells with a specific antibiotic resistance. This medium is also suitable for use in the CAMP test for the presumptive identification of group B Streptococci. This media is prepared, dispensed, and packaged under oxygen-free conditions to prevent the formation of oxidized products prior to use.TSBA is an enriched nonselective medium used for the isolation and cultivation of many microorganisms. The nutritive base consists of casein and soy peptone, which has been supplemented with sheep blood for the observation of hemolytic reactions, like the typical double zone -hemolytic reactions of Clostridium perfringens. The media is supplemented with hemin and vitamin K1 for the enhanced recovery of some fastidious anaerobes.
