Zinc dye . TSQ is an efficient membrane-permeable fluorescent probe for zinc (II). It is selective for Zn (II) in the presence of physiological concentrations of Ca (II) and Mg (II) ions. Fluorescence of TSQ is enhanced upon binding Zn (II), but the probe does not demonstrate a shift or change in emission wavelength. TSQ forms a largely insoluble 2:1 (Ligand-Metal) complex with zinc and emits blue light upon excitation at 365 nanometers. Alternative Name: N-(6-Methoxy-8-quinolyl)-p-toluenesulfonamide. Reveal Decloaker can be used with Biocare's digital electric pressure cooker (Decloaking Chamber), a steamer, a water bath, or a microwave oven. For many antibodies, titers are doubled and background staining is significantly reduced when compared to citrate buffer, pH 6.0. The end-user is assured by visual inspection that the solution is at the correct dilution and pH. Sambucus nigra lectin (SNL) is isolated from elderberry bark and binds preferentially to sialic acid attached to terminal galactose in a-2,6 and to a lesser degree, a-2,3 linkage. Also called SNA (Sambucus nigra agglutinin) and EBL (elderberry lectin), SNL can inhibit cell-free protein synthesis. Binding is also inhibited to some extent by lactose or galactose. This lectin does not appear to bind sialic acid linked to N-acetylgalactosamine. SNA has been reported to inhibit cell-free protein synthesis. This fluorescein-labeled SNL features a ratio of fluorophores to lectin protein that provides optimal staining (excitation 495 nm, emission 515 nm). Supplied as a solution essentially free of unconjugated fluorophores, it is preserved with sodium azide. The recommended inhibiting/eluting sugar is 500 mM lactose in buffered saline followed by 500 mM lactose in acetic acid.

Specialty Products. Biotin (Long Arm) Hydrazide reacts with aldehyde groups and thus can be used to label carbohydrate groups present in a wide variety of macromolecules. The spacer arm in this product allows optimal accessibility of avidin or streptavidin conjugates to biotin. Incorporation of Biotin (Long Arm) Hydrazide involves a two-step process. First, the saccharide is treated with periodate (not included) that produces aldehyde groups on sugars containing unsubstituted vicinal hydroxyl groups (these are usually present at the non-reducing termini of the oligosaccharide). Next, Biotin (Long Arm) Hydrazide reacts with the aldehyde groups to produce a stable linkage between the saccharide and biotin. This reagent can also be used to couple biotin to carboxyl groups on proteins and other molecules using a carbodiimide coupling method, and to specifically label RNA with biotin at the 3' end.
