Biotium Ethidium bromide (EB), 10mg/mL in H2O
Ethidium bromide (EB) is a widely used nucleic acid gel stain although it is also a known potent mutagen. EB is an intercalating DNA-binding dye with little sequence preference. Once bound to nucleic acids, the fluorescence of the dye is enhanced by more than 10 times while the excitation maximum is red shifted by 30-40 nm and emission is blue-shifted by about 15 nm. Because of its toxicity, Biotium offers EB solution in water as a safer alternative to weighing out the powder form. In addition, we also offer activated charcoal bags for convenient removal of the dye from solution. The dye has an excitation/emission of 522/593 nm when bound to DNA. Properties: Red solution; Store at 4°C, protect from light; Ex/Em= 279, 522/593 nm (with DNA); C21H20BrN3; MW: 394.31; [1239-45-8].

Biotium Water, Ultrapure Molecular Biology Grade
Water, Ultrapure Molecular Biology Grade is suitable for use in molecular biology applications that require high quality water. Type I ultrapure (18 megOhm-cm) water is subjected to ultrafiltration to eliminate RNase, DNase, protease, pyrogens/endotoxins (< 0.001 EU/mL) and bacteria (< 1 cfu/mL). Each lot is quality tested for the absence of RNase, DNase and protease contamination. The product is not certified as sterile, and is therefore not recommended for cell culture. Water, Ultrapure Molecular Biology Grade is free of toxic chemical additives, such as diethyl pyrocarbonate (DEPC). Applications: buffer preparation, protein and nucleic acid electrophoresis, DNA and RNA preparation, southern and northern blotting, PCR, DNA sequencing, cloning, and more.

Biotium Acridine Orange, 10mg/mL in water (AO)
Acridine orange (AO) stains dsDNA green (525 nm) and RNA or single stranded DNA red (650 nm). The dye is membrane-permeant and its nucleic acid binding property has been used for cell-cycle studies. Acridine orange has also been used for the detection of microorganisms in cerebrospinal fluid and other clinical specimens. Biotium offers a highly purified form of acridine orange while most other commercially available grades of AO are either in zinc chloride complex form or of low purity. The dye has an excitation/emission of 500/526 nm when bound to DNA and an excitation/emission of 460/650 nm when bound to RNA. Properties: Yellow solution; Store at 4°C, protect from light; Ex/Em = 500/526 nm (DNA), 460/650 nm (RNA); C17H20ClN3; MW:301.82; [65-61-2].
