Optimizing Extended HPV Genotyping in Clinical Laboratories
Examining Key Testing Technologies and U.S. Screening Guidelines
As cervical cancer screening shifts toward primary molecular HPV testing, laboratories must adapt to the growing role of extended HPV genotyping. This webinar will review key nucleic acid amplification test (NAAT) technologies—including real-time PCR and transcription-medicated amplification (TMA)—and summarize current U.S. screening guidelines and self-collection considerations.
The presenters will highlight the clinical value of genotypes beyond HPV 16/18, emphasizing genotype-specific risk differences and their impact on triage decisions and risk-based management. They will also discuss validation and quality control challenges unique to multi-target assays, including per-genotype performance verification, limit of detection, cross-reactivity, and mixed infection detection.
Attendees will find out how to strengthen assay performance, reporting practices, and quality monitoring to support confident extended HPV genotype reporting.
Learning Objectives
This webinar will help you:
- Compare NAAT technologies used for HPV detection and explain guidelines for primary HPV testing
- Discuss the clinical rationale for extended HPV genotyping
- Identify validation and QC considerations unique to multi-genotype assays
- Apply best practices for reporting and performance monitoring
