The Art of H&E Staining: Selecting the Right Hematoxylin, Eosin & Stainer for Your Lab

How Stain Varieties and Automated Platforms Can Affect Quality

Biological stains, particularly the widely used hematoxylin and eosin dyes, are crucial in histology for visualizing tissue morphology and diagnosing diseases. Your choice of specific stain formulations and use of automated platforms can significantly affect the final staining results.

There are a variety of dyes for routine staining available on the market today and deciding which ones to select might be confusing. In this webinar, the speaker will help you understand the types of hematoxylins and eosins available, their differences, and the unique characteristics and applications they are best suited for. Using imagery, he’ll also show the different staining results they produce.

In addition, the speaker will discuss how different automated staining platforms might affect staining quality, comparing distinct types of histology stainers and closed and open systems.

Learning Objectives

This webinar will help you:

  • Describe different routine staining components
  • Discuss basic differences within staining components
  • Explain how stains yield distinct visual outcomes
  • Compare the benefits and disadvantages of the open and closed automated staining platforms
