Title: Collecting Data Using an Automated Susceptibility Testing Platform

Date: October 5, 2023

Time: 1 p.m. ET

Reducing the Risk of Infections from Multidrug-Resistant Organisms

The need to improve antibiotic stewardship is increasing and will eventually be mandated to both provide optimal care and reduce antibiotic exposure risk that can result in multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRs). A working connection between the stewardship team and the microbiology laboratory is critical for success.

Timely and accurate organism identification and susceptibility data is essential to daily antibiotic stewardship activities. Automated lab systems can help you gather this data for real-time review and potential intervention by the stewardship team. But before you invest in an automation platform, identify your key requirements and priorities to make sure it meets your needs.

We will review several case studies, custom automated susceptibility testing solutions, and considerations for susceptibility testing reporting to help you understand the multidisciplinary approach to patient care management at one large teaching hospital.

Learning Objectives

This webinar will help you:

  • Explain the impact of effective stewardship practices on mortality and how collaboration between the microbiology lab and stewardship team can improve outcomes
  • Review the impact of effective stewardship practices on cases of sepsis and septic shock
  • Demonstrate the need for new therapeutics to address accurate diagnostic testing results
