DTBPMB in combination with Pd2(dba)3 (dba = trans,trans-dibenzylideneacetone) and a sulfonic acid can catalyze the methoxycarbonylation of ethane to form methyl propanoate.DTBPMB may be used as a ligand for the palladium-catalyzed hydroesterification of styrene and vinyl acetate to form branched esters in the presence of polymeric sulfonic acids promoters.
