LB (Luria-Bertani or lysogeny) Broth, Lennox is a general growth medium utilized for the maintenance and propagation of Escherichia coli in molecular microbiology procedures. LB Broth is an industry standard for the preparation of plasmid DNA and recombinant strains of E. coli. LB Lennox is a nutritionally rich medium designed for the growth of pure cultures of recombinant strains. E. coli grows rapidly due because cells are provided with amino acids, nucleotide precursors, vitamins, and metabolites the microorganisms would typically need to produce.
