Fluid Thioglycollate Medium with Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 (Tween 80), FTM w/LT, is a non-selective medium used for a wide variety of organisms, when the neutralization of disinfectants is necessary. FTM supports the growth of aerobic bacteria and anaerobic bacteria without the use of an anaerobic chamber. Reducing agents lower the oxygen content of the broth, which allows obligate aerobes and obligate anaerobes to grow in the same sample. Obligate aerobes grow at the top, obligate anaerobes grow in the bottom, and facultative organisms grow throughout the medium. Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 are added to neutralize germicidal agents and disinfectants. • Product meets AOAC, BAM, CDC, CLSI, and Harmonized USP/EP/JP reference methods and performance criteria.• For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• FTM should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
