Lauryl Sulfate Broth (LSB) is a selective broth utilized for the qualitative detection of coliforms in samples of sanitary importance. The coliform group of bacteria includes aerobic and facultative anaerobic, Gram-negative, non-spore forming bacilli that ferment lactose and form acid and gas at 35°C within 48 hours. Members of Enterobacteriaceae comprise the majority of this group, but organisms such as Aeromonas spp. may also be included. LSB is prepared according to the formula of Mallmann and Darby.• This product is double-strength (2x).• Product meets APHA, AOAC, BAM, EPA, and SMWW reference methods and performance criteria.• LSB should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.• Also known as Lauryl Sulfate Broth (LSB) and Lauryl Sulfate Tryptose (LST) Broth.
