Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract Agar with Cephalothin, Colistin, Vancomycin, and Cycloheximide (BCYE-CCVC) is a selective and non-differential medium for the isolation and presumptive identification of Legionella. Bopp et al. developed BCYE-CCVC agar in 1981. A BCYE Agar base is supplemented with antibiotics (cephalothin, colistin, vancomycin, and cycloheximide) to inhibit competing bacteria and fungi. The addition of these selective agents enhanced the recovery of Legionella pneumophila, particularly when combined with acid-wash pretreatment to reduce microbial contamination in water samples.• Product meets CLSI, EPA, CDC, ISO, and SMWW reference methods and performance criteria.• BCYE-CCVC should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
