Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract Agar with Glycine, Polymyxin B, Vancomycin, and Cycloheximide (BCYE-GPVC) is a selective, non-differential medium for the isolation and presumptive identification of Legionella species. L-cysteine HCl, ferric pyrophosphate and alpha-ketoglutarate provide nutrients required by Legionella species. Activated charcoal decomposes hydrogen peroxide, which is a toxic metabolic biproduct, while also collecting CO2 and modifying surface tension of the media. ACES buffer helps maintain the proper pH for optimal growth. Glycine, polymyxin B, vancomycin, and cycloheximide are selective agents added to suppress background flora present in samples. • Product meets CLSI, EPA, CDC, ISO, and SMWW reference methods and performance criteria.• BCYE-GPVC should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
