Brain Heart Infusion (BHI) Agar supplemented with 7% Sheep Blood, Chloramphenicol, and Gentamicin produces a selective medium utilized for the isolation of pathogenic fungi from specimens contaminated with bacteria. Gentamicin inhibits the growth of gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antimicrobic that also inhibits a range of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Sheep blood is used to enrich the base and support growth of systemic fungi that may grow poorly on nonenriched medium.• Product meets ASM and CLSI reference methods and performance criteria.• BHI should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
