S2 Media 15x100mm Bile Esculin Azide Agar with Vancomycin and Streptomycin (BEAVS), 10/pack
Supplier: S2 Media 5066
Bile Esculin Azide Agar with Vancomycin and Streptomycin (BEAVS) is a selective and differential medium used for isolation and presumptive identification of group D streptococci, Enterococcus faecalis, and Enterococcus faecium. Group D streptococci and enterococci hydrolyze esculin in the presence of bile, resulting in esculetin and dextrose. Esculetin reacts with ferric ions to form brown-black colonies. Oxgall (bile salts) inhibit most strains of non-group D streptococci and enterococci. The medium is supplemented with 8µg/mL Vancomycin and 100µg/mL Streptomycin. Streptomycin inhibits gram-negative organisms present in background flora. Vancomycin aids recovery of VRE streptococci and enterococci. • Product meets CLSI reference methods and performance criteria.• BEAVS should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
