Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract (BCYE) Agar is a selective, non-differential medium for the isolation, cultivation, presumptive identification, and maintenance of Legionella species. L-cysteine HCl is a growth, ferric pyrophosphate and alpha-ketoglutarate provide distinctive nutritional requirements of Legionella species. Activated charcoal decomposes hydrogen peroxide, which is a toxic metabolic biproduct, while also collecting CO2 and modifying surface tension of the media. ACES buffer helps maintain the proper pH for optimal growth.• Product meets CLSI, EPA, CDC, ISO, and SMWW reference methods and performance criteria.• BCYE Agar should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
