MacConkey (MAC) Agar with Levofloxacin and Cefotaxime is a selective and differential medium used for the detection and isolation of Gram-negative enteric bacilli. Levofloxacin is an antibiotic used to inhibit the growth of Gram-positive organisms. Ampicillin is a ß-lactam antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis by inactivating transpeptidases on the inner surface of the bacterial cell membrane. Administration with ß-lactamase cleaves the ß-lactam ring of Ampicillin and inactivates it.• Product (base) meets AOAC, BAM, CLSI, and Harmonized USP/EP/JP, NF, SM-Dairy, and SMWW reference methods and performance criteria.• MacConkey Agar should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.• Contains 16µg/mL Levofloxacin and 100µg/mL Ampicillin.
