Potato Dextrose Agar is a non-selective and non-differential medium recommended for the cultivation and enumeration of fungi. Potato infusion supplies nutrients necessary to enhance sporulation and pigmentation production. The low pH is favorable for fungal growth, but inhibits bacterial growth that may be present in the background flora. This product is suitable for the detection of heat resistant molds in thermally processed fruits and fruit products. It is a suitable medium for the preparation of Aspergillus niger and Fusaria species.• Product meets AOAC, APHA, BAM, CLSI and Harmonized USP/EP/JP reference methods and performance criteria.• PDA should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • For in vitro diagnostic (IVD) use.• Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
