One-step TUNEL FITC Apoptosis Detection Kit can be used to detect nuclear DNA fragmentation in tissues or cells undergoing apoptosis During apoptosis intracellular DNA endonucleases become activated cleaving genomic DNA between nucleosomes into 180-200 bp fragments or multiples thereof The resulting 3 -OH DNA ends are labeled with tagged dUTP through the catalytic action of Terminal Deoxynucleotidyl Transferase (TdT) allowing detection via fluorescence microscopy or flow cytometry with excitation/emission wavelengths at Ex/Em 492 nm/517 nm This kit has broad application and can be used to detect apoptosis in frozen or paraffin-embedded tissue sections as well as in cultured adherent or suspension cells
