Salt Sabouraud Dulcitol (SSD) Broth is a selective and non-differential medium used in qualitative screening procedures for the cultivation and selection of Candida auris, an emerging pathogen with multidrug resistance. SSD Broth is used as an enrichment step to support growth Candida auris, which can be present in complex skin samples. Multiple published methods are available and include use of a pre-enrichment step (utilizing SSD Broth) with subsequent subculture onto Salt Sabouraud Dulcitol Agar or a chromogenic medium such as Chameleon™ COLOREX™ Candida Plus.
