2-Acetamidofluorene is a potent carcinogen with strong damaging effects on DNA. It can be used for the induction of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and multiple primary tumors. For in vitro applications, its solubility in DMSO is 125 mg/mL (559.84 mM), requiring ultrasonic treatment for dissolution. In vivo, it can induce hepatic cell degeneration, oval cell proliferation, and inflammatory cell infiltration in HCC rat liver tissues.
