2'-O-Methylguanosine is a modified nucleoside produced in tRNAs by the action of tRNA guanosine-2'-O-methyltransferase. It results in apoptotic changes of cells and can induce apoptosis in Molt4 cells. It also inhibits the activity of RNA-dependent RNA polymerase after the incorporation of nucleotides, thereby protecting coronavirus RNA from degradation by host nucleases.
- Modified nucleoside.
- Apoptosis inducing nucleoside (AIN).
- Can be isolated from the culture supernatant of CD57⁺HLA-DRbright natural suppressor cell (57.DR-NS).
- Induces DNA fragmentation and apoptosis in Molt4 cells.
- Inhibits RNA-dependent RNA polymerase activity.
- Protects coronavirus RNA from degradation.
