S2Media™ Methyl Red (MR) Reagent is used to evaluate an organism’s ability to produce and maintain stable acidic end products from glucose fermentation. First described in 1915 by Clarke and Lubs, this test is commonly used to differentiate between members of the coli-aerogenes group of enteric bacteria. Testing is performed on isolated colonies on solid media.Positive Test: Red on the surface of the medium, indicating sustained acid production (low pH).Negative Test: Yellow on the surface of the medium, indicating neutral end products (high pH).• Methyl Red Reagent should be used by trained professionals within a laboratory setting. • Product is not intended for use in the diagnosis or treatment of disease or other human conditions.
