Enzymatic hydrolysis releases the fluorescent 4-methylumbelliferone (4-MU), which emits near 445-454 nm; excitation is pH-dependent. The product is supplied as a 10 mM solution in DMSO (1 mL) and is suitable for fluorescence-based biochemical assays.
