3α-Hydroxysteroid Dehydrogenase, Microorganism (3α-HSD) is an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of 3-ketosteroids into 3α-hydroxy compounds. Significant in androgen DHT inactivation, it converts DHT into 3α-androstanediol. This genetically recombinant product, with no animal origin, is used clinically to catalyze hydroxysteroid dehydrogenation and for total bile acid detection.
- Catalyzes the conversion of 3-ketosteroids into 3α-hydroxy compounds.
- Inactivates androgen DHT.
- Genetically recombinant with no animal origin.
- Used for clinical detection of total bile acid.
- Optimum pH is 7.0-9.0.
- Inhibited by Hg2+ and Ag+.
- Specific activity ≥50 U/mg protein.
